This series consists of records kept by Flora Prince, Treasurer of the Board of Trustees, Women's Missionary Society (WMS) of the United Lutheran Church in America. They are from 1939 to 1947. There are authorization notices from the Board of Trustees to its treasurer authorizing the payments of various expenses. These include payments for taxes, utilities, insurance, work completed on WMS-owned properties, bank charges, legal services, and incidentals accrued in the process of issuing bonds. In certain records, she was authorized to issue a check to the WMS general treasury for interest payments on WMS investments and matured annuities. There are statements from a broker retained by the WMS detailing shares of stock bought and sold. Other records in this series include Board of Trustees Trust Funds reports for 1939-1947. These yearly reports outlined, among other things, receipts, disbursements, itemized balances of different funds, and itemized interest from trust funds paid to the WMS general treasury. It appears that the 1947 report is not a complete copy. The folder titled "Annuity Payments" is a somewhat misleading description. These records are correspondence to Flora Prince alerting her to the issuance of new annuities and the specifics regarding them. In certain instances a reference is made to a payment, and that is a payment from the general treasury of the WMS to the Board of Trustees for the amount of the annuity that was issued. It appears the checks for those annuities were often mailed separately from the notices of their issuance. There is also a series of file cards for 1946-1947 detailing mortgages issued, a log of payments on the principal and interest. The majority of these cards are for mortgages, but there are a few that pertain to a purchase of stock or government bonds.
